Resolve To Be A Witness
If the idea of witnessing to someone is scary, don’t worry. You are not alone.
What are your resolutions for the year? Would you like to share the Gospel with someone this year? Even if you’ve never prayed with someone to receive the gift of eternal life, this year is the perfect time to start.
New years are for new beginnings. This is the time when people evaluate their lives—physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. We can show them that the ultimate way to begin again is through a new life in Jesus Christ. But we can’t accomplish that goal by remaining silent.
Every day, we hold conversations with people, but we often avoid the subject that matters most—that we can spend eternity with God. Why? Fear. Fear is the number one reason why many Christians don’t share their faith with others. But it doesn’t have to be.
Start With Prayer
Nothing we do for the Kingdom of God is effective without the backing of prayer. Make a list of ten people you would like to see come to Christ this year, and start praying for them . . . every day. Pray that God will open doors for you to share the Gospel with them and with others you encounter.
Look for opportunities. Keep your eyes and ears open. Genuinely listen to others as they talk and share their struggles. You will begin to see opportunities to share your faith with ordinary people wherever you go.
Remember your story. How did you first come to know Christ? How has your life changed? Your story is powerful. Share it. People are often open to hearing about how others have overcome the struggles in their lives. This is a perfect opportunity to share what Christ has done for you through your personal testimony.
Offer An Invitation
Don’t just share your story and wish them luck. Help them take the next step. Ask if they would like to pray to receive the gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. Invite them to a service or small group at your church. Offer to study the Bible together at a coffee shop or in the privacy of your home.
Keep Praying
Most of us didn’t become a follower of Jesus overnight. If you are able to, continue to follow up with the people you meet as they progress on their spiritual journey. Pray before and after every encounter. Pray for them each day. Continue to pray for them even after they accept Christ.
The BEST GIFT we could give anyone this year is the gift of a NEW BEGINNING in JESUS CHRIST.
